Canyon WR Mark Urbina broke his left leg in the Cowboys’ 37-26 victory over Lancaster on Thursday and he could be out for the rest of the season.

Urbina broke his leg after he made a 39-yard reception deep inside Lancaster territory in the second quarter. He was on the field for around 30 minutes before he was taken away by an ambulance.

Urbina is one of top receivers in Southern California and played an integral part in the Cowboys’ Division I state bowl championship last year. Heading into Thursday’s game, he had caught six passes for 128 yards this season. Last season, the All-CIF player caught 43 passes for 498 yards and three TDs.

This is a definite blow for the Cowboys, but the Canyon offense still has a couple top-notch players in WR Stephen Wirthlin and QB Sean Gavin.
