Quartz Hill and Valencia reach Hart Soccer Showcase finals

A couple of regional soccer teams will be playing in the finals of the Hart Soccer Showcase today and, somewhat surprisingly, neither championship game involves the host school.

The Quartz Hill boys, who beat Canyon, 8-0, in their season opener, defeated the injury-riddled boys from Nadal Street, 2-0, to help set up a championship showdown with Birmingham this morning.

On the girls’ side, Valencia proved it could be the best team in the Foothill League this season thanks to a 4-1 semifinal victory over a decent Chaminade squad, which pits the Vikings against Louisville today at 11 a.m. Valencia is still undefeated on the season and has won its last eight games.
