Santa Clara’s coach respect Oaks Christian

I got in a quick word with Santa Clara boys’ basketball Coach Michael Sandoval before the start of the Saints’ Tri-Valley League contest with Oaks Christian tonight and it seems as if he has the utmost respect for the Lions.

‘They have a lot of guys who complement each other and that’s what makes it tough,’ Sandoval said. ‘It’s not the end-all, be-all for us, but they definitely represent a challenge.’

At the end of the first quarter, Oaks Christian leads, 20-14, thanks, in part, to a couple of three-pointers by junior guard Tyler McGrath. Lots of back-and-forth play in this one.
