Schurr’s Zuniga is wrestling with perfection

At Schurr, there’s a supreme force -- wrestler Julian Zuniga, the 215-pounder who sports a perfect 16-0 record.

He swept the West Coast Classic Tournament with four falls in four matches last month and is currently ranked No. 3 in the state in his weight class by thecaliforniawrestler.com. ‘I love wrestling,’ Zuniga told the Whitter Daily News.

‘It’s not just a job or something I have to do. I want to wrestle, it’s a lot of fun,’ said Zuniga, who loves wrestling so much -- he even gave up basketball.

Now, last year wasn’t flawless as Zuniga finished fifth at the Southern Section Masters meet and seventh at state. This year, as a senior, you can expect a higher finish in both. Until then, there’s only one question: Can he stay perfect?
