Teacher, coach and Athletic Director Dan Hirsch will be inducted into Buena Park High’s Hall of Fame before its 7 p.m. boys’ basketball game against Sunny Hills on Tuesday, Feb. 5.

Hirsch was an outstanding runner who, in 1994, was elected into the Hall of Fame for his college alma mater, University of the Pacific. His real impact, though, came at the school he spent 37 years at coaching and teaching. He is retiring at the conclusion of this school year.

His teams at Buena Park won 18 Freeway League titles in cross-country and track. His boys’ cross-country team compiled a 112-16-1 record and once won 56 consecutive dual meets. His teams placed in the top 10 in the Southern Section meet 15 times. He also coached 15 section champions and three state champions.

He has been actively involved in the Orange County Athletic Directors Assn., and has been a great supporter of high school athletics through the years.
