I finally saw with my own eyes why Mater Dei’s David Wear has earned the privilege to play for the Tar Heels in the fall of 2009.

The 6-foot-10, 220-pounder was simply a force Harvard-Westlake couldn’t deal with, finishing with a game-high 21 points and eight rebounds in the Monarchs’ 84-59 shellacking of the Wolverines in the second round of the Division I-AA playoffs on Tuesday. He was dominant on the boards, especially in the first half, and illustrated why he’s a scoring threat from just about anywhere inside the arch.

But enough of my ‘Wear is awesome’ jibber-jabber. Here’s the big forward himself:

Oh, and here’s something for all the crazy Harvard-Westlake fans: Don’t chant ‘Travis is better!’ when David is at the charity stripe. It only makes the twin brothers play even harder.
