The high school portion of the Mt. San Antonio College Relays is stacked with talent, as usual.

After scanning the girls’ invitational entries for Saturday afternoon, it appears Long Beach Poly and Long Beach Wilson will be at full strength, starting with the meet-opening 400 relay at 3:50 p.m.

Poly finished runner-up in the event at the state championships last June and the Jackrabbits will send three runners from that squad onto the track, led by Jasmine Joseph, the reigning 400-meter state champion. Wilson finished third in state and returns Angele Cooper and Olivia Hudson.

Joseph and Cooper are also scheduled to battle in the 400, which is scheduled for 6:18 p.m. Cooper finished third in state last season and both she and Joseph will be gunning for the 22-year-old meet record of 53.28 seconds. Only a junior, Joseph won her state title in 53.15.

Another girls’ event to keep an eye on is the long jump, scheduled to begin at 4:30 p.m. Entered in that event is Karyn Dunne of Diamond Ranch, fourth in state last June, and sixth-place finisher Ashtynn Baltimore of Marlborough. They should be pushed by Wilson’s Hudson, a sophomore who finished second in her age group last summer at the Junior Olympics.

Check back later for some of the top boys’ events to watch. You can find all the entries here.
