Softball: Petty and Koria are the face of San Pedro’s success

Even though the result was the same it’s been for eight of the last nine years, Wednesday marked the end of an era for the San Pedro softball team. Following its 3-1 victory over El Camino Real in the City Section Championship Division finals at UCLA, you could feel a sense of reflection engulf the team once all the celebratory screaming and jumping was done.

For the last three championship seasons, seniors Taylor Petty and Perelini Koria have not only left an enduring footprint on City Section softball lore, but they’ve also illustrated how far teammates -- and friends -- can come in making dreams come true. Both have played an incredible role in keeping the San Pedro dynasty alive and have formed, perhaps, one of the most-dominant softball duos in Southland history.
