Former Granada Hills baseball Coach Steve Thompson is returning as head coach after a five-year absence. Thompson will replace Josh Lienhard, who has accepted the position of head coach at El Camino Real.

Thompson and Lienhard were on the field together at Dodger Stadium Saturday as Granada Hills played Bell in the City Invitational final. Thompson, who has been serving as an assistant to Lienhard, coached the Highlanders when Milwaukee Brewers outfielder Ryan Braun was a team standout. Thompson will continue to coach the school’s girls’ golf team as well.
