Garfield pulled off the upset of the week, defeating Birmingham, 29-28, when the Bulldogs stopped Steven Zamora on a two-point conversion attempt with 1:33 left on a disputed call.

Birmingham recovered a Garfield fumble on its own 43 with 2:37 left. Quarterback Morey Croson connected with De’Von Flournoy on passes of 15 and 38 yards before Trajuan Briggs scored on a three-yard run.

Zamora, the backup quarterback, took the handoff on a two-point conversion attempt, fumbled the ball briefly, then darted toward the end zone. The ball seemed to pass the goal line but then it left his hands toward the five-yard line. The officials ruled he did not score, and Garfield then ran out the clock.
