If Mater Dei and Corona Centennial meet for a third consecutive season in 2009, the Monarchs could make a rare foray into the Inland Empire.

‘Hopefully next year they can be enticed to come out to the I.E.,’ Centennial Coach Matt Logan said.

The Monarchs and Huskies are playing for a second consecutive year at Santa Ana Stadium on Friday because Centennial’s home stadium ‘doesn’t accommodate’ the needs of Mater Dei’s large traveling contingent, Logan said.

That could change by next year. The Huskies just installed field turf and a new scoreboard. Next up is the planned addition of 1,000 seats to increase capacity to about 5,000.

But what if the Monarchs insist on another game in the O.C.?

‘We’ll go there again if we have to,’ Logan said.
