Long Beach Cabrillo has become the latest recipient of player movement in boys’ basketball.

On Monday, Ervin Ware, a junior guard who started last season at Cerritos Gahr, enrolled at Cabrillo.

He joins another recent arrival at Cabrillo, junior guard Keith Shamburger, who was the Division V player of the year at La Verne Lutheran.

Both have ties to the California Supreme club program, and that has attracted the attention of Southern Section officials.

‘We’re concerned that there is a connection to a sports program that could be possibly placing these kids, but we have no evidence,’ said Southern Section spokesman Thom Simmons.

Cabrillo has a new coach in Jim Nielsen, who previously coached at Calabasas, Pepperdine and Redondo.

Ware would be eligible immediately if he moved. Shamburger is expected to seek a hardship waiver.
