Earlier this week, my colleague Ben Bolch argued the Southern Section should adopt a playoff seeding system which rewards top teams with guaranteed home games throughout the postseason. The system, similar to the one used by the City Section, would be a major incentive to teams who’ve performed well during the regular season.

Of course, any athletic director will tell you that playoff games offer a nice extra helping of income for schools. A rotation of playoff sites allows more schools to share the playoff wealth, giving schools which are not traditional football powerhouses the chance to bolster their coffers as a reward for making it past the first round.
