Football: Lakewood takes early 3-0 lead

Lakewood kicked a 25-yard field goal to take a 3-0 lead over top-seeded Long Beach Poly midway through the first quarter but squandered an opportunity for more after having a first and goal at the Jackrabbits’ eight-yard line.

A pass was dropped in the end zone and another was underthrown, leading to the field goal by Jesus Orozco. Lakewood running back Jerry Stone had 45 yards in eight carries on the drive.
