This sure beats driving to Temecula.

I’m here in the reasonably comfortable environs of the Home Depot Center for tonight’s Division I state football bowl championship game between Corona Centennial and Concord De La Salle.

It took less than an hour to drive from my garage in Westwood to Carson, a slight improvement over the four-hour trek to Temecula for last week’s Inland Division championship between Centennial and Chaparral. Heck, I could have driven to Boron and back by the time it took me to get there.

It’s cold and a little windy, but not nearly as unbearable as standing on top of the press box at Chaparral High. I don’t know why, but I have a feeling Centennial is going to come out and win this game. Stay tuned. My esteemed colleague Austin Knoblauch and I will keep you updated throughout.
