Marlborough burrows a small lead at halftime

L.A. Marlborough’s six-point lead over Irvine Woodbridge with under two minutes left was cut to a 28-26 lead at halftime in the girls’ Southern Section Division III-AA championship game at Santa Ana Mater Dei High.

Senior Guard Taylor Ball scored eight points for Marlborough and junior guard Jordan Sanchez has 14 points and five rebounds for Woodbridge.

Both teams have similar field-goal percentages, Marlborough’s being slightly higher at 46% to Woodbridge’s 40%. Woodbridge attempted 10 free throws -- twice as many as Marlborough -- and made nine of them.
