Girls’ basketball: Poly to hold celebration rally

The Long Beach Poly girls’ basketball team, fresh off its fourth consecutive state Division I title, will be honored during a rally at the school Friday as part of Poly’s intercultural fair. The Sparks are scheduled to attend.

The Jackrabbits’ latest title came 100 years after Poly (then Long Beach High) won an unofficial state title in 1909 by splitting a pair of games against Bakersfield. The aggregate score of the two games served as the tiebreaker.
