Baseball: All-Western League team selected

Palisades’ Jon Moscot and Westchester’s Chris Jacobs were selected co-most valuable players of the Western League.

First-team selections were Palisades pitcher Julian Anchez, infielder David Skolnick and outfielder Brett Whalen; Westchester pitcher Jamaal Moore, infielder Derrick Guidry, utilityman Robert Gsellman and outfielders Alex Aleman and Dominique Starks; University pitcher Jose Medina, infielder Justin Moore and outfielder Stephon Brown; LACES infielder Josh McKie; Fairfax infielder Tony Gaparetti and catcher Vince Gamez; and Venice catcher Daniel Hordo.

Second-team selections were Fairfax pitcher Anthony Giannelli, infielder Robert Perez and outfielder Robert Eusey; Hamilton pitcher Steven Gallardo; Palisades pitcher Buck Traweek, infielder Ryan Kim, catcher Damon Ray, utilityman Nick Poulos and outfielders Ryan Holman and Josh Korn; University infielder Michael Chun; Westchester infielder Zachary Nordberg and catcher Greg West and Venice infielder Sam Ramos and outfielder Anthony Smith.

Ryan Taylor of LACES was selected the freshman of the year.
