Football: Beware of defensive back at Mira Costa

Manhattan Beach Mira Costa (11-2) plays Mission Hills Alemany (10-3) on Friday night at College of the Canyons for the Western Division title, and if Alemany quarterback Vernon Adams decides to pass, he might want to make sure he knows where defensive back Kyle Nunn is on the field.
In his last three playoff games, Nunn has had two interceptions in each game. In the semifinals against Palmdale, he also caught a 50-yard TD pass.
Top-seeded Mira Costa, under Coach Don Morrow, is getting used to appearing in championship games. The Mustangs have been to the final eight times, winning in 1993 and 1997. Alemany has never made it to a championship game.
Mira Costa’s big task will be to contain Oregon State-bound running back Malcolm Marable, who has performed quite well against tough competition. He’s small but versatile and has power.
