Erik Swoope scored 33 points and grabbed eight rebounds to lead host Harvard-Westlake, ranked No. 21 in the Southland by The Times, to a 74-70 Mission League victory over No. 3 Loyola on Monday night. It was the first loss of the season for the Cubs, who had opened the season with 14 consecutive victories.

Damiene Cain had nine points, 18 rebounds and six blocks for the Wolverines (11-4, 3-0 Mission League), which took over first place in league.

Miles Cartwright scored 25 points for Loyola (14-1, 3-1), which lost its shooting touch over the game’s final few minutes.
