Girls’ basketball: Mater Dei gets past pesky Hanford

With Arizona State Coach Herb Sendek sitting courtside and looking wholly uninterested, second-seeded Mater Dei held off third-seeded Hanford for a 70-61 victory in a Southern California Division II regional semifinal.

Sendek arrived early to see Sun Devils signee Keala King, who will play for Mater Dei in the boys’ semifinal against Taft that will tip off in 15 minutes.
