Compton pulled to within five points of San Diego Lincoln with more than a minute to play but could come no closer during a 60-52 loss in the Southern California Division II regional championship at the Galen Center.

The Tarbabes had a six-point halftime lead and plenty of momentum. Then the second half started and everything unraveled amid a flurry of turnovers as the Hornets came out in a full-court press.

In a curious move in the final minute, Compton fouled with only four seconds left on the shot clock instead of making Lincoln take a shot. The Tarbabes had only four team fouls at the time, so they had to keep fouling and taking more time off the clock.

Compton Coach Tony Thomas is probably going to hate watching film of an error-filled game in which his team continually missed shots and turned the ball over.
