Boys’ basketball: Mater Dei has early one-point lead

Mater Dei finished the first quarter on an 8-2 run to take an 18-17 lead after the first quarter of their much-anticipated Southern California Division I regional championship at the Galen Center.

Westchester was up, 15-10, when Max Hooper and Tyler Lamb made consecutive three-point baskets and Lamb wowed the crowd with an up-and-under layup.

Both teams are showing the ability to put together quick runs and score in bunches.
