Baseball: Edison’s Christian Lopes wins home run derby

Shortstop Christian Lopes of Huntington Beach Edison won the home run derby on Saturday for the Diamond Sports National Classic.

Lopes, a junior who played last season at Valencia, has struggled at time this season at his new school but he got his home-run swing going.

Action begins Monday in the 16-team tournament.
