Baseball: My version of shark week

This is the week every baseball game I attend is a big-time pitching match-up. It started on Tuesday watching Jesus Valdez of Hueneme throw a no-hitter in a 2-0 victory over Oxnard. Then on Wednesday, I watched Bobby Wheatley of Orange Lutheran outduel Cory Hahn of Santa Ana Mater Dei, 3-0.

And on Friday, I’m headed out to Diamond Bar, where Cal State Fullerton-bound Kenny Mathews, a junior, is scheduled to take on UCLA-bound Adam Plutko of Glendora.

On Wednesday, Glendora improved to 14-1-1 with a 11-4 victory over Diamond Bar, so the stakes will be even higher Friday.

That means I expect few walks, lots of strikeouts and the game should be over in 90 minutes. Unless it’s a 0-0 tie and headed into the 10th inning.
