Birmingham reliever Marti Sementelli, the top pitcher of the 2008 International Baseball Federation World Cup in Japan, was among four local players selected for the final 20-player Women’s National Team roster.

The others were first baseman-outfielder Sarah Gascon of Rancho Palos Verdes, outfielder Nicki Holt of Camarillo and San Marcos High reliever-infielder Ghazaleh Sailors of Santa Barbara.

The roster can be found here and the team will represent the U.S. in the 2010 World Cup, which runs from Thursday-Aug. 22 in Venezuela.
