Football: Santa Margarita leads Orange Lutheran, 24-10

Santa Margarita’s Johnny Stanton scored from 10 yards out on a quarterback draw to give the Eagles a 24-10 lead with 4:49 left in the fourth quarter.

The touchdown was made possible following a gutsy play call by veteran coach Harry Welch, who decided to go for it on fourth down and three instead of trying for a field goal. Stanton picked up four yards on the play to keep the drive alive.

John McGrory has now made 90 consecutive extra point attempts in his high school career as Santa Margarita looks on pace pick up a win on homecoming night.
