Baseball: Beckman takes over first place in Pacific Coast League

Irvine Beckman (10-3, 5-1) took over first place in the Pacific Coast League with a 17-0 victory over Corona del Mar (9-4, 4-2). Juan Padilla gave up three hits in five innings. Grant Barring had three hits, Jake Hazard had three RBIs and Connor Deenan also had three RBIs.

It sets up another showdown with Corona del Mar for Thursday, matching UCLA-bound James Kaprielian of Beckman against Stanford-bound Andrew McCormack of Corona del Mar.
