Local News in Brief : N. Hollywood Woman Darts Into Traffic, Dies
A 62-year-old North Hollywood woman was killed on New Year’s Eve when she ran into traffic after having an argument with a roommate, police said.
Maura Nagana darted across Vineland Avenue at Hatteras Street at 5:30 p.m. and narrowly missed one car before she was struck by another driven by Elizabeth J. Plassmeyer, 21, of Sun Valley, said Frank Nuckles, a Los Angeles Police Department accident investigator.
Nagana died of massive head trauma at the scene and was pronounced dead at St. Joseph Medical Center.
Police said Nagana was upset by the argument with her roommate. No citation was issued to the driver, they said.
