David Berst, director of enforcement for the NCAA, said that a full-page advertisement for the Industry Hills and Sheraton Resort in Wednesday’s Times sports section, featuring a picture of the Ohio State football team, was not the kind of thing that normally results in an investigation, but that the incident would be reviewed to see if NCAA rules were violated.

In a story in Thursday’s Times, a quote by Pete Pino, general manager of Industry Hills and Sheraton Resort, indicated that Ohio State officials had seen the composite picture of the Buckeye football team superimposed on a picture of the Industry Hills complex before it appeared in Wednesday’s paper. Pino said that he had meant to say that the Ohio State officials had seen the ad after it had appeared and thought it was fine.
