New Offices, Expansions : Japan-Based Company Opens Irvine Sales Office

Sophia Computer Systems Inc., a recently established American corporation and subsidiary of a Japan-based firm, has opened its western regional sales office in the Irvine Co.’s Executive Park office complex at the intersection of MacArthur Boulevard and Main Street.

The firm, which manufactures peripheral equipment that enhances the power of Intel personal computers, is headquartered in Santa Clara. Cushman & Wakefield Commercial Real Estate negotiated the property transaction.

Strategy Plus: Consulting Strategy Plus: Consulting Inc. has relocated its offices from Westminster to ARCO Center, 300 Oceangate, Suite 570, Long Beach, according to Coldwell Banker, leasing agent for the building.

The firm, headed by Sol Jaffe, offers services in total company organization, executive search, tax planning and tax audit.

Designtech Doug Stead, Kim Cooper and Jim Armstrong, formerly with Jain Malkin Inc., have formed a new company, Designtech, specializing in interior architecture, space planning and interior design. It is located at 2347 Ron Way, near Mission Valley.

Stead will head the company as president, Cooper will be vice president in charge of production and Armstrong will be a vice president in charge of client liaison.

Aspen Pacific William E. Tackabery and Charles W. Poss have formed the Aspen Pacific Development Co. at 4970 Irvine Blvd., Suite 108, Irvine. The firm is involved in the development of hotel/commercial, office and residential properties.

Tackabery is former president of Southwest Engineering and more recently was affiliated with Psomas & Associates. Poss has nearly 30 years experience as a general engineering contractor and will continue to manage his own firm, C. W. Poss Inc.

Phil & Jim’s TV Phil & Jim’s TV & Appliance Inc. has signed a nine-year lease on a 43,935-square-foot building at 714 E. Ball Road, Anaheim.

The property was leased from Trammel Crow Co., Los Angeles, for a total consideration of $1.2 million. Business Properties Brokerage Co. represented both parties in the transaction.

Calmark Development Calmark Development Corp., a real estate syndicator of multi-family housing, has become a full-floor lessee in the new 22-story Westwood Gateway building at 11111 Santa Monica Blvd. David Thind of Westside Commercial Brokerage Co. represented Calmark in the negotiations.
