The Comex ended talks on a joint venture.

New York’s Commodity Exchange Inc. announced that talks on a possible venture with the Big Board’s New York Futures Exchange. “To put it simply, we made our best offer and they found it wanting and we weren’t looking to go any further,” said Martin Mosbacher, a spokesman for the Commodity Exchange. Mosbacher said the discussions had centered on making the New York Futures Exchange a jointly owned company using the Commodity Exchange’s trading facilities.
