Borrego Springs

A 25-year-old Norco man was killed early Tuesday morning after he was thrown from his tractor-trailer truck on California 78, 1 1/2 miles west of Yaqui Pass Road near Borrego Springs, a California Highway Patrol spokesman said. Hugo H. Cuevas was found dead at the scene at 2:25 a.m., said coroner’s deputy Jack Larkie. Cuevas suffered numerous cuts and probably had internal injuries, Larkie said, but the exact cause of death will not be known until an autopsy is performed. Cuevas was traveling east on 78 when his truck ran off the road for unknown reasons, hit a rock and threw him from the vehicle. There were no skid marks near the accident scene, the CHP spokesman. The truck was owned by the United Hay Co. of Chino, said Cles Williams, a partner in the company.
