A car skidded out of control on a rain-slicked Santa Ana street early Tuesday morning and struck the rear of a van-sized school bus, a California Highway Patrol spokesman said.

The bus driver, Toya G. Robinson, 27, of Long Beach, and her lone passenger, Lisa Wallace, 19, of Los Alamitos, were treated for minor injuries at Mercy General Hospital in Santa Ana and released, said California Highway Patrol spokesman Paul Caldwell.

The driver of the car, Sharla Marie Pedroza, 20, of Santa Ana, was not injured, Caldwell said.

Pedroza was traveling south on Bristol Street near 7th Street when she apparently failed to notice that traffic had stopped ahead of her, Caldwell said. As she attempted to brake, the car slid and collided with the school bus, he said.

“It was a minor accident,” said Greg Erbe, director of safety and training at the Pinetree Transportation Co., owners of the bus. He said the bus was en route to Saddleback High School and McFadden Junior High School.

No citation was issued in the accident, but an investigation is continuing, Caldwell said.
