The body of a 40-year-old man was discovered in a dirt field near the 1500 block of Orangethorpe Avenue in Placentia, police said. Placentia police responded to the scene after a passer-by reported discovering the body, which was “hidden under a tree,” according to Lt. Chuck Babcock of the Placentia Police Department. “The preliminary investigation indicated the victim had been stabbed numerous times,” Babcock said. Determination of an official cause of death will not be made until an autopsy is completed, Babcock said. The victim was believed to be a resident of the area, but his name was being withheld pending notification of relatives, Babcock said. No suspects were in custody and the investigation was continuing.
