Right Con, Teddy Naturally Head Field in Today’s California Breeders’ Stakes

Right Con and Teddy Naturally head a field of nine in today’s $100,000-added California Breeders’ Champion Stakes at Santa Anita.

Right Con, a winner of the San Mateo and El Camino Real stakes at Bay Meadows last year and third-place finisher in the rich Hollywood Futurity at Hollywood Park in his last start Dec. 16, will be ridden by Chris Lamance and has been assigned high weight of 122 pounds for the seven-furlong race.

Teddy Naturally, who won four straight races last fall, will be ridden by Laffit Pincay and carry 119 pounds.

Among others entered in the 45th running of the race for 3-year-olds foaled in California are Rogers Four, who will be ridden by Chris McCarron and was assigned 119 pounds; Nostalgia’s Star, Eddie Delahoussaye, 117 pounds; Relaunch a Tune, Patrick Valenzuela, 114 pounds; Air Alert, Bill Shoemaker, 114 pounds; Just the Facts, Sandy Hawley, 114 pounds; Dusty Okie, Gary Stevens, 114 pounds, and Ed’s Fantasy, Rafael Meza, 114 pounds.

If all nine entries go to the post, the total purse will be $114,600 and the winner will earn $69,600.
