Fog Brings Quarter Horse Season to an End
A heavy blanket of fog forced cancellation Tuesday night of the final nine races at Los Alamitos Race Course, including the $30,000 Bull Rastus Handicap.
The fog caused a 35-minute delay in the running of the first race. Conditions then cleared briefly, but the fog returned shortly after the race.
Jim Smith, general manager of the Horsemen’s Quarter Horse Racing Assn., said conditions were too hazardous for riders and horses and canceled the rest of the night’s program.
Tuesday was the final night of the 60-night HQHRA winter season.
