More than a dozen representatives of Latino organizations urged members of their community to join the fight against the apartheid policies of South Africa. Humberto Camacho, spokesman for the United Electrical Radio and Machine Workers of America, said the meeting to form the Latino Coalition Against Apartheid was a move to help destroy the “myth” that blacks and Latinos cannot work together. Latinos were encouraged to join picketing outside the South African consulate in Beverly Hills on Saturday.
