Culver City Schedules Hearing on Five Proposed Office Towers

Share

The Culver City Planning Commission has scheduled a public hearing on the draft environmental impact report on Marina Place, five office towers that the Prudential Insurance Co. plans to build at the corner of Washington Boulevard and Walnut Avenue.

The hearing will be held Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. at Linwood E. Howe Elementary School auditorium, 4100 Irving Place.

Neighborhood groups oppose the project because they say the towers, two of which would be 17 stories, two 15 stories and one 12 stories, are too large. They say the complex will cause traffic, parking and other problems.

The City Council must approve the environmental report, a zone change and final site plans before construction can begin. It granted preliminary approval for the project last year, but said the towers must be scaled down.

The Prudential property is one block east of Lincoln Boulevard, where the Los Angeles Olympic Organizing Committee made its home last year in a warehouse.
