Local News in Brief : Skater Is Honorary Toluca Lake Mayor

Olympic figure skater Tiffany Chin has been named honorary mayor of Toluca Lake by the Toluca Lake Chamber of Commerce.

Chin, 17, will serve as mayor for 1985, a ceremonial job that includes making presentations and distributing awards at chamber functions.

Chin, a resident of the North Hollywood part of Toluca Lake, finished fourth in the women’s figure skating competition in the 1984 Sarajevo Winter Olympics and is considered a good prospect for winning a gold medal in the 1988 Calgary Winter Olympics. The Providence High School student succeeds Frank De Vol, television actor, musical arranger and orchestra leader, as honorary mayor.
