45th Chess Game Is--a Draw

MOSCOW —
World chess champion Anatoly Karpov agreed to a draw offered by challenger Garri Kasparov, playing black, on the 36th move of the 45th game of the World Championship today.
The draw was the 39th in the 4 1/2-month-old match. Karpov leads the series 5-1 and needs one more victory to retain the world chess crown for the fourth time. The next game will be played on Friday.
