USFL Lands Zendejas
Former Arizona State placekicker Luis Zendejas signed a guaranteed one-year contract Wednesday with the United States Football League’s Arizona Outlaws, club officials said.
Zendejas, who set a NCAA career scoring record of 368 career points last fall, was scheduled to meet the media at a news conference here Thursday morning before participating in his first pro practice.
Terms of the pact were not announced, but sources told The Arizona Republic that Zendejas would get about $55,000 plus incentives, but no option or signing bonus.
The Republic added, however, that Zendejas intends to jump to the National Football League after the USFL season ends in July. The NFL draft is April 30 and Zendejas is expected to be a high draft choice.
