A shot was fired and three restaurant employees were assaulted Monday during a robbery of about $10,000 in cash at Tiny’s restaurant in La Palma, police said.

The employees suffered minor injuries when struck by the men who held up the restaurant, at 6901 Walker St., police said.

Detective Randy Bell said three men, all armed and wearing Halloween masks, confronted an employee about 12:15 a.m., just after the restaurant closed. They forced the employee to lead them to the manager’s office where a shot was fired and money was taken.

One employee of the restaurant, who asked not to be identified, said one of the intruders “fired the gun to show him (the manager) they were serious . . . . They told him they would blow his brains out.”

The manager said he did not try to resist the men, the employee said. “They hit him in the neck with the back of the gun twice.”

He added that a dishwasher was struck in the neck with a gun, and that the robbers kicked a busboy.
