KENNEDY SHOW RATINGS
The CBS miniseries about Robert Kennedy got off to a respectable start in the ratings Sunday, but the second installment was clobbered Monday by the “American Music Awards” on ABC, figures from the A. C. Nielsen Co. showed Wednesday.
The audience for “Robert Kennedy and His Times” picked up again for the conclusion Tuesday night but apparently did not reach the levels of Sunday’s opener.
The seven-hour biography, which starred Brad Davis in the title role, attracted viewers in about 16.7 million homes Sunday. But only about 12.4 million of those households returned Monday, as CBS trailed both the “American Music Awards,” which drew about 22 million homes between 8 and 10 p.m., and NBC’s telecast of “Earth’s Final Fury,” which was seen in about 17.1 million homes.
National ratings for Tuesday’s conclusion won’t be available until today, but overnight figures from nine major cities showed Wednesday that the tune-in level fell somewhere between those of the previous two nights.
