Camper Playing With Gun Kills Himself
A Woodland Hills man, camping with his wife and friends in the Lockwood Valley area of Ventura County, was killed Saturday night when he shot himself in the head, sheriff’s Lt. Bob Gockel said Sunday.
Todd Hachenburger, 22, was drinking and playing with a handgun at Camp Schiedeck, a private residential community and campground about 35 miles north of Camarillo, when he put the gun to his head and pulled the trigger in front of other members of the camping party, including his wife, Kelley, 19, deputies said.
Deputies reached the area by helicopter and Hachenburger was pronounced dead at the scene.
