San Diego
San Diego undercover police arrested a man suspected of committing a rash of burglaries in the Golden Hill area, a San Diego Police Department spokesman said. Wallace Leone Jackson, who is on parole from a robbery sentence, was arrested Sunday night after an attempted robbery in the 2600 block of A Street. He has since been linked to other burglaries in the vicinity, according to police. The woman whose house was being broken into Sunday heard a suspicious noise, pulled open her drapes and called police when she saw a man, police spokesman Rick Carlson said. The Golden Hill area had been under surveillance by four undercover detectives for the last week because of 20 similar burglaries since September. A composite drawing of a suspect had been in circulation since mid-January. Jackson, of Chula Vista, was booked into County Jail on suspicion of burglary and assault with a deadly weapon.
