Fullerton’s Neal Refuses to Discuss the Weekend Kidnaping and Robbery

On the advice of attorney Ray Alvarado, Cal State Fullerton senior forward Tony Neal refused to answer questions Monday night concerning the details of Saturday evening’s kidnaping and robbery.

Although Alvarado denied that he was representing Neal, 21, in a legal capacity, he met with the 6-6 Titan forward in the locker room before Neal met the press in a postgame interview and answered most of the questions posed to Neal concerning the alleged incident.

Alvarado also said he will be with Neal tomorrow when he meets with Santa Ana police detectives. Neal has not yet spoken with Santa Ana police since they took over the investigation from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Dept. Sunday.

When asked why there was so much secrecy surrounding what has been described as a random robbery and kidnaping, Alvarado replied, “Hopefully, that will be cleared up tomorrow.”

Santa Ana police said Monday afternoon that they are not prepared to release a statement on the case. Since the initial report of the incident was taken by the Sheriff’s office, Santa Ana police said that until they speak with Neal, they can not be sure of the sequence of events or the accuracy of the details previously released.
