Sockers Receive Some Good News, Bad News
The good news for the Sockers Monday was that Branko Segota had been named the Major Indoor Soccer League’s Offensive Player of the Week.
Segota had eight goals and two assists last week in leading San Diego to three wins.
However, there was nothing but bad news from the doctor’s office.
Midfielder Kaz Deyna has a partially torn cartilage in his right knee and defender Gary Collier suffered a broken left ankle in Sunday’s 3-2 win against Cleveland.
Deyna, who did not play Sunday, will miss Wednesday night’s game against the Chicago Sting. It is uncertain when he will return.
Collier will be sidelined five weeks. He was sent home to San Diego on Monday evening.
