Wilmington : Appeal Denied for Closed Hazardous Waste Plant

Share

Los Angeles officials have denied IT Corp.’s appeal of orders to shut down its second Wilmington hazardous-waste facility.

In a decision issued this week by chief zoning administrator Franklin Eberhard, the city upheld shutdown orders served Dec. 10 by its Department of Building and Safety. The orders prohibit the treatment, storage and transfer of hazardous waste at IT’s Wilmington facility at 336 W. Anaheim St. because the property is not zoned for such activities.

Eberhard had earlier turned down an appeal of city shutdown orders served Dec. 6 at another IT facility at 221 East D St.

IT officials said they have not yet decided whether they will further appeal Eberhard’s decision with the Board of Zoning Appeals. The company has until Feb. 21 to file another appeal for its Anaheim Street facility and until Feb. 19 to appeal the D Street decision.
