College Baseball : Fishel Leads Titans Past Panthers

Cal State Fullerton defeated Chapman College, 7-3, Monday in a nonconference baseball game at Hart Park in Orange.

John Fishel went 2 for 5, including a home run and three RBIs for the Titans. He also scored twice. Jose Mota went 2 for 4 with 2 RBIs and Shane Turner went 3 for 3 and scored three times.

Mark Winner came in for Damon Allen in the fourth inning to pick up his first win of the season. Winner (1-0) threw 3 shutout innings.

Fullerton (5-6) plays host to USC at 7 tonight at Titan Field.

UC Irvine 11, UC San Diego 1--Tom Baine and Don Davis hit back-to-back home runs in a seven-run seventh inning to key the Anteaters’ nonconference victory at Anteater Stadium. Davis went 2 for 4 with 2 RBIs and Baine was 2 for 2. Bret Martin pitched seven innings, giving up only five hits and one run.

UCI (5-4-1) plays host to Pepperdine at 2:30 today.
